Coastal Lifestyle

Nothing stimulates the senses and stirs the soul quite like the new M-Series M46 from Morris Yachts. Whether you are charging to windward like a thoroughbred, or stargazing from the large cockpit in a still anchorage, the M46 is more than just a boat. She’s a living, breathing work of art that will take care of you offshore, and turn heads in any harbor you enter.

Designed in partnership with Sparkman & Stephens, her new innovative performance-oriented hull welcomes the rigors of extended coastal cruising, her copious flush-mounted hatches flood the well-designed interior space with light and, for the first time on any M-Series yacht, her fold-down transom steps provide excellent access to the water from the cockpit.

M46 Overview

Innovative Design

There’s no mistaking the M46’s pedigree. Her hull has been newly engineered to gain maximum sailing performance and interior accommodation space. She features a longer waterline, enhanced tumblehome and a more traditional bow than her predecessors, along with appendages that will guarantee an uncompromising sailing performance in a variety of sailing conditions. She is a true American original and built for performance, luxurious cruising and a versatile sailing lifestyle.

Cleverly Engineered Transom Steps

In addition, the new fold-down transom steps accomplish a tricky task of persevering the sexy transom overhang that our M-Series yachts are known for, while also making the M46 the first classic boat in her size range to provide such easy access to the water from the cockpit. The drop-down transom provides the perfect boarding area for the complementary Morris Inflatable Standup Paddleboard (iSUP) that comes with the purchase of an M46. The custom Morris Board is also available for consumer purchase. Click here for information or see below for details.

Down Below

Down below, the M46 offers her owner an exquisite living space never seen before on a classic yacht in this size range. Her large flush-mounted deck hatches flood the accommodations with natural light. And the bright and airy owner’s stateroom, private head and separate shower deliver unparalleled cruising comfort not usually found in classic boats. Simply put, the newest edition to the M-Series line has the heart and soul of a true American original.

New Performance Hull

In reviewing the hull lines for historic classics like Dorade (shown below), Bolero, and every other influential early S&S design, some great insights can be drawn for a new design.
Dorade – M46 Morris Yachts

“The new M46 hull design has stretched out the waterline to gain maximum performance without compromising on the iconic M-Series looks. Slenderness has been maintained for effective upwind work and maximum comfort while sailing. Gentle tumblehome in the topsides ensures symmetric waterlines while sailing at heel to make exceptional headway to weather. The draft is ample but not excessive, resulting in optimal balance between sailing performance and shallow inlet cruising. The rig too has been optimized for a wide range of wind strengths. Simply put, the M46 is designed to provide safety and performance at sea while allowing for accommodations down below that rival boats 25% larger in her class”. – Brendan Abbott, Sparkman & Stephens

An Exquisite Interior

With the warmth of luscious, hand-varnished woodwork and abundance of natural light from the large flush-mounted foredeck hatches, the M46’s accommodation plan provides a sophisticated retreat from the harshness of our mass-produced world. The well-executed interior layout boasts two private cabins with en-suite heads, a spacious main saloon with large social dinette and cross-beam day bed, a full-sized galley, and an integrated wireless home office. This layout sleeps six and provides significant cruising comfort for a couple plus several guests.

Empowering the Coastal Lifestyle

Your boat says a lot about who you are. But the new M46 is more than just a status symbol. After launching more than 100 M-Series yachts and gleaning valuable lessons from decades of boat building experience, the M46 hits the sweet spot between form and function. This smaller sister to the regal M52 delivers head-turning luxury, spacious accommodations, and smile inducing performance. Meanwhile, compared to the M42, her larger accommodations plan and increased waterline are geared more towards swift passages and handling the rigors of extended offshore cruising. Whether you’re single handing on an afternoon harbor cruise, spending the weekend with friends and family, or a husband and wife team crossing the Gulf Stream, the M46 does it all, beautifully.

Sailing the M-Series Way

It’s hard to improve on perfection. While the M46 showcases several new features, she also maintains our outstanding M-Series innovations—the award winning sail handling system that leads all sail controls under the deck back to the helmsman, the central winch placements that make single handling a snap, and the self-tacking jib—that have been impossible to improve upon.

But her new features of a completely new engineered hull, Fold-down transom and flush-mounted hatches set her apart from other boats in her size range. Plus all these features come alongside the added value of standard teak decks. It is hard to improve on perfection, but at Morris we make this our life’s mission.

Hand-crafted in Maine

The joinery and varnish work are only two of the many things that set the M46 apart. Furniture is hand built of the finest woods and varnished to a luscious depth. It is these details for which Morris is known that make every day and night on board a sheer pleasure. The fit and finish of the accommodation plan and the visceral sensation of wood gives the M46 its unmistakable soul. Of course, her owner can customize the interior in any way he or she desires. After all, that’s why you come to Morris.

Your Personalized Design Consultation

Since we believe each yacht we build is an extension of her owner, Morris provides every M46 buyer a dedicated interior designer, naval architect and project manager to make sure the interior design accurately reflects the style, personality, and panache of her owner. This kind of treatment is common among the superyacht set. And while the M46 is luxurious, but not big enough to qualify as a superyacht, we believe our owners are entitled to superyacht caliber service and we want to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want. From color schemes, textile variations, paint and even hardware choices, our interior designer works intimately with each owner to present a multitude of design schemes to bring the owner’s dream interior to life.

Centralized Wireless Integration

It’s never been easier to listen to music or even watch a movie on an optional bulkhead mounted TV. All of your wireless entertainment systems—iPods, tablets, and smartphones, etc.—can be controlled at the nav station.
