Over the weekend of August 2-5, 2012, we were joined by 180 folks- owners, customers, friends and family of Morris Yachts -here on our island in Maine as we celebrated our 40th Anniversary! 1972-2012, forty years of building the world’s finest sailboats is certainly worth celebrating!

Morris Owners came from as far away as Japan, Australia, UK and West Coast USA to join us in celebration. The activities over the 4-day weekend included a Gala Dinner at the Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor, a fifteen boat raft-up in glacier-carved Somes Sound with a picnic lobster roll lunch, and various forums and presentations including a live press announcement on Morris’ new Ocean Series 48 GT!

Here’s a lovely letter we received from one of our owners in attendance this weekend:

Dear Morris Yachts,I have a few minutes at the airport and wanted to thank you and the Morris Yachts extended family for a terrific 40th anniversary weekend. It was especially thoughtful to bring in the service and production staff to meet with owners.  Well-planned and executed!

The experience this sailing season confirms our decision last year to choose Morris for our family’s cruising boat. From the myriad considerations that went into our search process, our goals became deceptively simple: beauty, performance, and build quality. The first two are matters of personal taste and need, but the last is essential for comfort and safety, and few builders can match the high standards that Morris is known for. Even though she’s 20 years old, our 1991 Justine “Emilia” is as solid as the day she first left the yard; a comforting thought at sea and as an asset.

Hope to see you at 45 and 50!
