The AwlGrip bays at our yard in Bass Harbor, Maine, have been bustling with activity this winter. We have long been known to produce some of the finest paint jobs in the industry, and there is nothing else that can improve the aesthetics of your boat like new paint by Morris Yachts!
We have several boats that recently received proud new owners and were re-painted to suit their new owners’ preferences. Morris Yachts is, of course, known for our excellent sailboat service, but this winter we also had the opportunity to give a facelift to a beautiful Boston Whaler, which certainly made her one-of-a-kind.
In addition to topside painting, we re-covered the non-skid areas on two of our service customers’ boats. Our unique method of spraying the non-skid particles, as opposed to other traditional practices, provides a high-quality, uniform texture. Non-skid can fade in color and the texture will wear thin over time, so a fresh application can greatly add to your boat’s functionality and appeal.
We also recently re-painted the spars of one of our Ocean Series boats and the results are nothing less than spectacular. All hardware was removed and the surfaces were appropriately prepared before the application of the topcoat. It is possible to paint without the removal of hardware, but the best results are achieved by removal, and it provides us with a good opportunity to check everything for proper operation and fastening. Spars can receive a lot of wear, due in large part to salty spray and constant exposure to the sun. This can be more prevalent on painted aluminum spars, rather than those made of carbon fiber. A fresh paint job not only looks fantastic, but aids in protection from corrosion.
Our success with the high quality work that has been produced this season is due to our hard-working crew, under the leadership of our new paint supervisor, James Fitzgerald. James’ right hand man, Nick Mann, is also an important part of the team and has been putting in long hours while always learning the tricks of his trade.
